Duration of Course: 10 weeks
Premised upon Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory (1993), this program is intended to nurture students towards becoming better learners at school through participating in diverse artistic activities.
Students acquire practical skills such as developing effective learning strategies, time management and critical thinking skills, while developing an appreciation for music, mathematics and fine arts.
Positive values such as discipline, patience, determination, and resourcefulness are developed. Through participation in group activities through the arts, students are also encouraged to develop stronger awareness and capacity for reflection. In group activities, students learn interpersonal skills through working with team mates.
Multiple Intelligence Development
This program promotes development of multiple intelligences through an array of enriching artistic activities: (1) Linguistic intelligence (musical theatre, voice - diction)
(2) Logical-mathematical intelligence (music appreciation and music theory)
(3) Musical intelligence (piano, violin, aural training, musical theatre)
(4) Bodily-kinaesthetic intelligence (dance, music)
(5) Spatial intelligence (dance, painting)
(6) Interpersonal intelligence (dance, musical theatre - through personal interaction, collaboration)
(7) Intrapersonal intelligence (retrospection and introspection - musical practice - especially violin, painting, musical theatre)
This program cultivates the following values to promote academic excellence: (a) focus and concentration
(b) better co-ordination and synchronization (physical co-ordination and mental reflection)
(c) respect and discipline (patience, sharing, responsibility) (d) organization skills (time management, self-directed learning) (e) self motivation and confidence (setting tangible and realistic goals) (f) creativity (resourcefulness, encouraging the development of a unique identity in the learner) In addition, students will be exposed to a variety of musical and artistic activities to help them identify their niche.
Artistic Profiling: We help identify the most appropriate niche for each learner. Once this is achieved, a specific program can be proposed to maximize artistic potential.
Identification of Giftedness: At Lambda, we help identify early signs of giftedness and assist in customizing accelerated learning programs to help prodigies excel.
