Piano Program - minimally two lessons per week. All students will acquire the basic skills to playing the piano by the end of the camp
The piano is the kind of all musical instruments. It is important for students to acquire the basic skills of playing the piano, from which they can easily extrapolate these skills (including motor skills, co-ordination, and reading of musical notation) to other instruments of their choice. In our summer camps, all students will have minimally two group piano classes per week. They will learn the basic skills to playing the piano by the end of the camp session.
Children will learn the basics of keyboard technique—including healthy posture, hand positions, and fluidity of movement. Basic concepts of music notation and rhythm will also be introduced. They will also participate in group ensembles where keyboard technique is cultivated in a musical atmosphere of joy and excitement.
Learners will be introduced to flute as a woodwind instrument, and also learn about how sounds are made. Students will experience a performance of the instrument, as well as getting hands on experience on this beautiful instrument.
Violin & Cello
* NEW: Introduction to other Exotic Musical Instruments
Broadway Musicals, Singing
Student learn the basics of cartoon drawing, and create their own stories. Young students develop the skills of learning about relative proportions, scale, and portraying expression through simple shapes.
Digital Photography & Videography
Connections are made in the world of visual arts and music through digital photography and music appreciation. Through linking up the sense (auditory and visual), students develop greater acuity of perception in their environment. In digital photography classes, students will learn about basic concepts of photography such as composition, perspective, as well as develop skills necessary for day to day photography needs.
Students will learn to prepare basic foods with the help of our camp counsellors. Campers learn about basic hygiene and safety in the process of food preparation, procedural planning, knowledge about basic nutrition for various food groups, concepts of being "green" in disposal of left overs, as well as experience the joy of sharing foods.
Arts and Crafts / Origami
Origami is a three-dimensional art of paper folding. This helps children develop co-ordination and spatial and visualization skills. It is also a creative way for children to develop patience and dexterity. Children learn to fold paper animals (such as frogs, birds, fox), latterns, and three-dimensional structures with the assistance of our instructors.
Yoga offers a safe and moderate level of exercise for children. It offers stretching and movement activities that are gradual and are not likely to cause stress and strain to young bodies. It is also a fun class for students to develop a level of physical awareness towards their bodily movements, which is essential for development of high order co-ordination skills.
